SENSE OF PLACE WINES

Sense of Place Wines is a celebration of wines from around the world that tell a story of their unique birthplace, carefully nurtured from vine to wine that express individuality that needs not be compared, just appreciated for what they are.

It is our belief that true individuality is intrinsically and ultimately expressed by not only growing naturally but by also encompassing the biological rhythms in nature that biodynamic farmers understand and embrace. This is what makes biodynamics distinctly different from just being organic.

Such biological rhythms are not a recent discovery. They were first documented by Pliny the agricultural consultant to the emperors of Rome in 23AD. Our introduction was by Sergio’s Calabrian grandfather when he first described his winemaking practices back in the 50’s and 60’s.

Initially it was rather difficult to understand but over time with sheer fascination and curiosity, this new concept of these natural biological rhythms and their inherent relationship to the cosmos, particularly the lunar cycle, drove a deep desire to explore more. The discovery for us was that these wines really reflect a sense of place.

unique & real wines
of the world

At Sense of Place Wines, we resource real wine, that expresses its unique Terroir, and share it with wine lovers around Australia. Our unique portfolio of both local and imported wines will compliment any wine offering.

A focus on sustainability, organics, and biodynamics means these wines are not only pure in varietal expression, but pure in expression from where they come from (fingerprint) the way that they are made.  Showcasing beautiful regions from the Cardinia Ranges to the steep red slops of the Rhienhessen.

Wineries atop one of the most sought-after areas of Barolo, to the beautiful Syrah’s of Cortona DOC in Tuscany. The wines are here for us to share their stories, take a moment, and enjoy.

real wines...but what does that mean?

Wines that come from a pure and natural environment.

That showcase a varietal, vineyard, climate, and soil.

A combination of Old World traditions, and New World technology. In other words, experience meets practicality.

This is what makes a wine real. A wine made where nature leads the process.

terroir

The intrinsic natural qualities of place that, when nurtured, will express themselves in the produce being grown.

The backbone of the European appellation system which defines a wine not by style, but by story and place.
