CORTONA, TUSCANY, ITALY

WINEMAKERS: STEFANO AMERIGHI

Located in Southern Tuscany, Stefano planted the gentle slopes of Cortana to Syrah in 2002.

Today he is considered one of the most impressive producers in the area. The southeast facing site provided the ideal exposure and the eight acres were planted on a mix of clay, silt and chalk.

The high-density plantings of 7000 vines per hectare, and strict adherence to biodynamic vineyard practices has taken Stefano Amerighi to the esteemed accolade of viticulturalist and winemaker of the year in 2018/19.

Stefano aims to produce a wine that is pure and representative of the unique area that is Chiuso di Cortona, focusing only on Syrah. This wine represents the passion that Stefano has for his land and vines.

“The company’s ethics include the total absence of corrective measures, crushing in the old-fashioned way, with your feet, rendering this wine a true reflection of my grapes in this vintage year.”
